MATHEMATICS
CORNERSTONE
Mathematics is a true cornerstone of 21st century education, and is a primary area of focus for a STEM school such as KMIDS. Adhering to US Common Core Standards, KMIDS provides students with a sound progression through the mathematics fundamental core subjects that will for most students culminate with a year of AP Calculus, a university-equivalent higher mathematics course.
COURSES
During their time at KMIDS, students will progress through the core requirements of Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB. The department also offers Statistics and Business Mathematics as Electives.
PHILOSOPHY
KMIDS employs a variety of resources, including textbooks, online resources, and technical tools in its day-to-day instruction. The overriding philosophy of education of the KMIDS Mathematics Department is that mastery of mathematics is arrived at in the doing of math. To that end, our teachers ensure that students are continually developing their mathematics skills through constant working engagement in mathematical exercises. The process in an active one that ensures mathematical strength in our students and enables them to obtain acceptance to a multitude of mathematics-dependent courses of higher learning upon graduating from KMIDS.
