Grade 9 students built IOT cars using instructions and materials in school. Students constructed the cars from small kits, soldered components together which was a new experience and skill for most students. They coded their cars and uploaded the code to Arduino R3 which controlled the cars using code. Students were able to connect the IOT cars to their mobile phones and controlled them through KMIDS Wi-Fi. To make the project more individual and creative, students decided that they would create Soap Boxes such as the Red Bull Soap Box challenge started in Thailand. Students wanted to challenge their technical and creative skills against one another in a race using Internet of Things technology. The result was a string of customized IOT cars that reflected students own personalities and interests. The race was exciting and everybody enjoyed the experience.
